About the Author

Author, speaker, singer and 3-time GRAMMY and DOVE nominee, Michele Pillar has a testimony that everyone who has ever needed help to overcome anything should hear! Her journey of courage began at age nine while hiding under her twin bed to escape the effects of her parents’ alcohol abuse. But when Michele looks back at those days, she feels only gratitude. Michele says, “There is no better way to experience the powerful hand of God than to watch Him heal the human spirit of such travesties. Once healed, these negative experiences are dwarfed and God uses them to heal others through someone like me. I am no different than anyone else. I just talk about true-to-life happenings in front of crowds of people. That’s why God allowed my beginnings to be as they were. He knew I would be restored, He would be glorified and others would be empowered to be restored as well.”

Today, Michele's strong name recognition from her CCM accomplishments and many #1 radio hits in the ’80s and ’90s may be the bedrock of her fan-base, but is not what she’s leaning on to carry her new book, Untangled (BroadStreet Publishing®) to the world. Is she still singing? Indeed. But her sold out speaking engagements and women’s conferences nationwide are resonating with the people on a deeper level than music can reach. Michele is talking people’s language and speaking into the real world they live in. Her honestly, humor, and music on stage break through the fear of “getting real” and attendees are finding the whole experience a breath of fresh air in the world of Christian conferences.

Michele shares, “You know you’re free when you feel comfortable telling the whole story without shame, fear, blame, or guilt. When it doesn’t hurt to talk about it, you know you’re fully healed. That’s what the world is looking for—a way to move on! Not everyone feels safe hanging his or her old laundry up in front of everyone, and probably shouldn’t! But I don’t mind doing so at The Clothesline Conference or even for a Sunday AM service. It’s about what everyone wants to find: freedom (visit MichelePillar.com to view The Clothesline video). The beauty is, I leave my stories behind to do their work. I don’t believe anyone wants to be told about a relationship with God; they want to see it, feel it, touch it, to make sure it’s real. Telling the whole truth with a chuckle sprinkled in seems to do that.”

Michele’s early credits include singing classic songs for the Maranatha! Music Praise albums, I, II, III, IV and V with solos such as “Jesus What A Wonder You Are,” “In Moments Like These,” and “Thou Art Worthy.” “The Misfit,” a duet LP with Erick Nelson, and the radio hit single with Phil Keaggy, “What a Wonder,” led to her recording contract and three solo records for Sparrow in the ’80s all together totaling over 2 million record sales. She also charted with her CD “Love Makes All The Difference” for the Benson Co. and in 2005 recorded the Christmas CD “I Hear Angels Calling.” The single tops airplay for AC pop stations like Nashville’s Mix 92.9 every year.

Along the way, Michele studied acting and worked, represented by the William Morris Agency in L.A. Michele was featured in commercials for Lexus, Levi Strauss, and  other clients and was a featured voice on the TV show The Simpsons. She also enjoyed acting in live theater and co-authored the music for Magdalene with DOVE winner Chris Eaton and Allison Allen, of Women of Faith.

She toured with The Billy Graham Assoc. singing for massive crusades and toured up to two hundred concert dates a year at one time. But Michele is not slowing down anytime soon. Her Facebook platform reaches over 20 million on any given week and her “Two Minute Miracle” video Bible devotional each day (Mon-Fri) is viewed by 20,000+ viewers each week. Michele’s Facebook demographic is people 18-25, all the way up to those in their 50s and beyond.

Untangled the book will be released worldwide Oct 1, 2016 and soon to follow will be her new CD “You Untangle Me” both for BroadStreet. GRAMMY winners Allen Shamblin and Mike Reid wrote the title track with Pillar after Shamblin read Untangled and called Michele saying, “I’m mowed over.” Recently Shamblin wrote with Pink for her new release, and the two penned a song for Celine Dion’s new album. Train and others stand in line to write with Allen.

Michele concludes, “God has paved the way beautifully for this chapter of ministry. I’ve never been more excited to see what He will accomplish with these pieces of hard work!”
